Turn on the 3D gallery (app embed)

Switch on the gallery embed so the 3D ring becomes the first slide of your product gallery.

← All articles

The The RenderX 3D gallery is an app embed: a switch in your theme editor that lets The RenderX place the 3D ring as the first slide of your product gallery. Nothing in your theme's code changes, and switching it off (or uninstalling the app) removes it completely.

Turn it on

  1. In the RenderX app, open Overview and click Turn on in theme editor in the checklist. This opens your live theme's editor on a product template, with the app embeds panel ready.
  2. Make sure The RenderX 3D gallery is switched on.
  3. Click Save.

You can also get there yourself: Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds (the icon in the left sidebar), then switch on The RenderX 3D gallery.

What it does on a product page

On a product that has 3D, the embed:

  • shows the ring's picture as the first gallery slide, with a "3D" badge on its thumbnail;
  • loads the 3D viewer only when the shopper first interacts with the page (moves the pointer, touches, scrolls, uses a key, or taps the slide), so your page loads as fast as before;
  • keeps your theme's slider working: swiping the gallery still works, and dragging inside the viewer turns the ring;
  • follows your variant picker if you've set up metal mapping.

On products without 3D, it does nothing.

Check that it worked

Open a product with 3D on your store. In the app, Settings → Product page → Check my product page loads one of your product pages and tells you whether your gallery was found and whether the embed is on.

Some themes build their gallery in an unusual way. If the 3D slide doesn't appear:

  • add the block yourself: Add the 3D block yourself; or
  • in Settings → Product page, enter your gallery's CSS selector (only if you know it); or
  • click Ask us to support your theme. We add support centrally, and it reaches your store without an app update.

Vintage (non-2.0) themes can't use app embeds or app blocks. Switch to a free Online Store 2.0 theme such as Dawn, or contact us and we'll help.
