You can uninstall The RenderX at any time from Settings → Apps and sales channels in your Shopify admin.
Your theme stays clean
The RenderX never edits your theme files. It works only through a theme app extension (the gallery embed and the block). When you uninstall, Shopify stops showing them straight away, so your product pages go back to exactly how they were.
Before you uninstall (optional)
In the app, Settings → Data → Remove all 3D data (type REMOVE to confirm) clears the 3D viewer data (metafields) from every product and the app's settings metafield from your store. Your files are kept. Do this before you uninstall: Shopify revokes our access when you uninstall, so we can't remove those metafields afterwards. If they stay, they're harmless: the theme app extension stops rendering on uninstall, so your storefront is clean either way.
What happens to your files
| What | Where | After you uninstall |
|---|---|---|
| 3D display models and pictures | Your Shopify Files | Stay in your Files. They belong to you; delete them there whenever you like. |
Stored .3dm originals ("Keep my original") | Our server | Kept for 48 hours, in case you reinstall, then deleted. |
| Saved links ("From a link") | Our database (encrypted) | Deleted after 48 hours, with your 3D product records. The files in your drive are untouched. |
.3dm files you uploaded unticked | Your computer only | Nothing to delete; we never had them. |
Your store's data
48 hours after you uninstall, Shopify asks every app to delete the store's data (the shop/redact request). We then delete everything we hold for your store: settings, product records, saved links, analytics events and their daily summaries, and support history. Only a one-line note that the deletion happened is kept.
If you reinstall within 48 hours, your 3D products and stored originals are still there.
Our nightly backups are kept for 14 days, so deleted data disappears from backups within 14 days.
